Maritime IQ is pleased to introduce UK-based consultant Richard Pierrepont, who brings over four decades of practical experience across marine engineering, vessel operations, and the wider maritime industry.

Based in Cowes on the Isle of Wight — home of the prestigious Royal Yacht Squadron and a global centre for competitive sailing and powerboat racing — Richard founded his marine engineering company in 1979. He went on to represent leading marine engine manufacturers and marine electronics providers, supporting both commercial and leisure vessels throughout the region.

Richard’s career combines technical expertise with real-world operational experience. He has served on the Yarmouth lifeboat and has extensive time at sea, including professional powerboat racing, competitive yacht racing, and completing a transatlantic crossing in 1997.

In 2011, he co-founded Solent Yacht Brokers, developing a strong presence in the brokerage market. Following the recent sale of his marine engineering business, Richard now focuses on providing independent consultancy, offering clients practical, experience-led advice across marine projects, vessel performance, and operations.

Outside of the maritime sector, Richard has been an active Rotarian for over 20 years and is a keen fly fisherman.
